The Challenge Starts Today
April 1st, 2005
Nadav has started a very interesting challenge to earn $100 per day in the next 12 weeks while documenting your progress for others to learn from.
After quite a bit of thought, I’ve decided to participate. I currently earn about 80% of my income from freelance web design work, but it’s definitely time for a shift in those figures.
I love design. I love the creativity it allows as well as the technology and lessons I can learn from it. But what I’m also learning is that it’s limited. I will not become independently wealthy working as a freelance web designer because my time is finite. And even if I fill up every minute of my day working for clients, I will not be able to achieve my financial goals unless I start a design firm and hire employees to work for me.
Building a conglomerate web design business is not where I want to go. I do what I do because I like it, not because I want someone else to do it for me and in recent months my work has become stressful and emotionally draining as well. With that in mind, it’s time for a change.
I know I’m coming into the challenge a little bit late, but I wanted to start on a nice even date, so my challenge will run April 1, 2005 - June 23, 2005 (exactly 12 weeks).
I will also be taking a different angle when reporting my progress. It’s pretty much a given that the other participants will detail the steps, techniques, and products they use to achieve their goals — so I’ve decided to document another aspect of building a viable online income.
I will be documenting the spiritual and mental aspects of this challenge. I won’t go into many details of how to set up websites, hosting packages, or linking strategies. What you will find here over the next 12 weeks are the techniques, tools, and process I personally use to get me into a prosperous mindset and the impact it has on my bottom line. You’ll get to experience the good, bad, and ugly right along with me.
The point of my participation is not about success or failure — I already know I can succeed — it’s about actually taking the initiative and doing something, anything. We can all become so lost in the learning and analytical process that we completely forget to actually start. This challenge will serve as a gentle reminder.
Here’s to developing a passive $100 daily income over the next 12 weeks.

April 7th, 2005 at 10:00 pmIt will be exciting to share your mental map as you journey down this road we call “striving for more.” The difference that truly does make the difference is how and what we think about. Wonderful idea.
