Windows Live Writer – Beta

August 16th, 2006

This blog entry is being written with the (beta) software.

I definitely appreciate the clean interface and WYSIWYG editor. (I should note that it hasn’t fully loaded my WordPress blog’s styles in Web Layout mode. The Web Preview mode is awesome, though.)

A potential downside is the lack of an optional excerpt field and the difficulty it had detecting my XML-RPC file although it’s clearly defined in the head section of my blog. Nothing too difficult to get over — and it is beta software.

When I finish putting it through the wringer on some of my other blogs, a more in depth review will follow.

(If you’re eager to try it out for yourself, here’s the direct download link.)

After installing the .net framework (required in order to install “Live Writer”) and of course installing Live Writer I am wondering why? Both Flock and Firefox have similar, less involved web publishing to one’s blog. Not to mention the various stand alone software that do the same thing.
